My Newest Work and Exhibits

Hello!
It's been a while since I shared my newest work. Lots to tell...

I had a solo exhibit at Athan's Gallery Cafe. It was called 'Till Next Bloom' and was curated by Unbound Visual Arts. The reception was in September and was a great success. Here are some watercolor paintings from the exhibit: The first is Cyclamen. The second is Orchid Gals

The most exciting news is my new work on YUPO. It's very challenging and fun to work on. A smooth, plastic finish on which watercolors love to collect wherever they want to!! So I use a whole new skill set to make the painting work:  Meet  'White Rhodie' , 'Early Evening Kousa' and 'Early Spring ll'.

They're all on YUPO and I use different techniques for each.

More exhibits! Marblehead Winter Members' Exhibit is showing my watercolor 'Day of Music', painted while listening to chamber music at a friends house. Took the flowers from their garden! Clematis and hosta flowers.

'Dance' is currently on exhibit at the Wedeman Gallery, part of Lasell College in Newton, MA. The reception was a few days ago and the gallery was packed! It's the best show that Newton Art Association has sponsored.

I guarantee that I won't take so long again to share my work.
Thanks.

Solo Exhibit at Marblehead Arts Association

Hello to Everyone

Welcome to Spring. It has finally arrived. Even though it wavered a bit with April snow...

My watercolor below is called 'Private Conversation' (notice the two tulips on the right in conversation, gossiping).  I guess the painting is my way for wishing for 'real' tulips to bloom.  The conversation going on between these two tulips was, of course,  an accident - like so many other wonderful 'accidents' that happen with watercolors.

My new solo exhibit, 'Nature's Portraits', is opening  Saturday April 26 at
The Marblehead Arts Association.  It will run until June 8. The Reception is Sunday April 27 from 2-4.  Please join me in Marblehead.

There are 5 other artists at the MAA, each with a solo show.  Each of us has his/her own gallery. I will probably have about 14 pieces in my show. Watercolors and pastels. I spent a lot of time making sure that the framing really was right for each painting. Hope I succeeded. Come to the reception and let me know!

The MAA is housed in a beautiful old mansion which has many rooms. Each room with it's fireplace has been transformed into an art gallery. What an interesting and historic venue for an art exhibit!

Visit and say hello on the 27th - take a beautiful drive to the historic area of Marblehead, have some delicious food, enjoy quality art from several artists.

8 Hooper Street  Marblehead.  50 min. drive from Newton, where I live. Less from Boston!

New Exhibit in Newton City Hall

The Newton Open Studios' exhibit is up and ready to be viewed!
There is a revolving show in Mayor Setti Warren's office in Newton City Hall. I'm proud to be one of the artists. When you're in Newton just stop by and view the show! There is always art on the walls because Mayor Warren is a great supporter of Newton artists. I understand that he loves us having our art gracing his office walls and adjacent hallway.

This exhibit presents new work of the artists. I did this Magnolia painting in summer 2013 from photographs I took of magnolia trees. Where? In the parking lot of my dentist's office.  I saw a gorgeous magnolia in bloom and knew I had to paint it.

I wonder if my dentist knows that there is a spring 'bonus' in the parking lot!

Just think, spring isn't far away...hmm the weather forecast for New England is snow for this weekend. Well, we can look forward to longer days beginning December 21st.

Happy Spring Thoughts, for now.

A Success! Newton Open Studios

Hello!

I wanted to thank anyone who reads my blog, especially if you visited me during Newton Open Studios exhibit this past weekend. This show was juried so I was really excited to have the opportunity to exhibit and sell my work.

I think Newton Open Studios' new venue, Newton City Hall, was very successful. I had a good show and enjoyed many good art conversations with folks who were fascinated by the way I paint 'backgrounds'. Several people asked if I taught watercolor classes. I don't right now, but you all will be the first to know (well, maybe not the first) if and when I do!

Here's the watercolor I currently have in Mayor Setti Warren's office in Newton City Hall. The exhibit there now is called 'Movement'. If you have a chance, stop by City Hall in Newton on Commonwealth Avenue and Homer Street and pop into the Mayor's office. Second floor.

It's been a pleasure to have exhibited there throughout this whole year. Each exhibit has a different theme. It's interesting to see how each Newton artist interprets the theme.

Till the next exhibit...stay tuned!
