Give Art for the Holiday

I hope everyone has had a healthy and wonderful Thanksgiving.

It seems like the energy around this season is already beginning to rev up. I know I'm busy having archival Giclees printed as several people want them as affordable quality art to give as gifts. As well, folks want them for a way of decorating their homes for the holidays and beyond.

My original paintings will be in an exhibition at the Marblehead Arts Association member show. December 1-24. The show should be fabulous - there are many very talented artists showing work in all mediums.

The Marblehead Arts Association is located in a charming wonderful old building called the Hooper Mansion. 8 Hooper Street in Marblehead. The show will have sculpture, photography, paintings, crafts - all juried. And there's an artisan shop in the mansion where you can buy gifts galore.

There is also a tradition called "Hooper's Treasures" - small works $100.00 or under. All framed and quite 'giftable'.

The artist reception is December 9 from 2-4. I'll be there! I'll also probably be there on Saturday December 1, at a table I set up to actually do some watercolor painting during the show!! What fun.

Hope to see you in Marblehead - oh by the way - it's an easy drive and worth it!

My Two New Paintings

I often struggle with Autumn - it's the end of the summer, end of flowers and warm weather. But, the colors of fall help me to really appreciate this season.

The Maples are glorious because they take a while to change color. And the range of colors as they change is actually quite unbelievable to me! How can one tree be coral, green, red and gold all at the same time?

So on my walks I pick up fallen Maple leaves and have a blast painting them as they change. I do the same with Linden leaves. They are spectacular!

I hope you like my watercolors "Duet" of Maple leaves, done on handmade paper. I wanted the paintings to glow, as the real
                                                                                      leaves do.

Enjoy this season - in beauty
                                                                                      and good health.

My First Post: Welcome

Hello! Welcome! So what will you find on my blog?

Having a blog enables you to get to know me better. Hopefully that will mean understanding my paintings better too.

I’ll use this Blog page to talk about my different paintings. For example, some of them I did while traveling - I actually send my supplies ahead to wherever I’m going if I’ll be there long enough. More on that…

I’ll talk about my first long term teacher. How she loved nature and how she changed my life because of the way she painted and the way she taught.

I’ll update you on shows I’m doing; where you can find my paintings. For example

Currently I’ve got 3 paintings at

NewTV: The theme of the show is FREEDOM.
The paintings I chose are of leaves floating in the wind. The show comes down mid November. Go and see it - you’ll find all sorts of artists’ interpretations of Freedom. NewTV is located on Easy Street next to National Lumber in Newton. Go to the top of the hill.

I also have a painting in Mayor Setti Warren’s office in  Newton City Hall. The theme for this show is Reminders of  Summer. I’ve chosen a really softly colored painting of hydrangeas.

You can see 10 of my giclees in Hyde Park in Tierney’s Real Estate Group.

Stay tuned, I’ll be talking about more personal things in my life which have affected my painting:  my grandmother, my teacher. Both very special women!
